Does money really have the power to attract the best employees?
Well, it depends on how you define “best.” I define best as fully engaged in the purpose of the brand, highly talented and an inspiration to be around (introvert or extrovert).
I find that these employees are motivated by purpose and value…in short, a positive culture. Being highly paid is a plus.
On the other hand, a brand can pay very well but have a poisonous culture and bad employees. I define bad as disengaged in the brand’s purpose, on an ego trip and being a person that people want to run from.
Yesterday I had a friend say, “I left that other place to work at this place. It doesn’t pay as much, but I’m happy.”
Purpose, joy and inspiration are an effort to maintain, but anyone is capable of possessing them.
