Here are three things to ask your staff to deliver on:
1. Acknowledge every prospect/customer/donor even if you can’t help them right away. Even if it’s just eye contact, a facial expression or a head nod.
2. Say something. This forces the staff to be creative.
3. Inspire. Give your staff the freedom to go out of their way to bring joy to those who choose to use you.
I once heard a story about a woman who asked for milk for her infant at a sports stadium food bar. The young man asked where the lady was sitting. He then ran outside the stadium to a convenience store and purchased the milk, warmed it up and brought it to the mom.
The woman was so impressed that she decided to inspire him by sending a letter to the stadium’s leadership.
Why not lead the way in your market? It doesn’t really cost that much more.
